Best Opsgenie alternatives before Opsgenie sunsets on 5th April 2027
Opsgenie sunsets on 5th April 2027, so every Opsgenie team needs a replacement. Atlassian points customers to Jira Service Management or Compass. Outside Atlassian, the main Opsgenie alternatives are PagerDuty, incident.io, Rootly, Better Stack, Grafana Cloud IRM, Datadog On-Call and Oppex AI. Which one fits depends on whether you want a service desk, a pure paging tool, chat-first incident response, or on-call with AI investigation built in.
Disclosure: we make Oppex. Facts are from each vendor's public pages, October 2026.
Key Opsgenie dates

Atlassian's own options
- Jira Service Management — Atlassian's path for end-to-end incident management. It is built around tickets, request portals and IT assets, with alerting and on-call as part of it. AI alert grouping and advanced incident management need the Premium plan; status pages need Enterprise. Opsgenie has an in-app migration tool for it.
- Compass — Atlassian's path for DevOps teams that want alerting and on-call next to a software component catalog.
Both keep you inside Atlassian. Note that some older Opsgenie integrations do not carry over to either.

How to choose
- What did you actually use Opsgenie for? If it was alerting and on-call for engineers, a dedicated incident tool usually fits better than a service desk. If you also need IT service management, Jira Service Management makes sense.
- Where do your alerts come from? If they come from several monitoring tools, pick a tool that groups across all of them, not one tied to a single observability vendor.
- Do you want the cause found for you? An AI SRE agent investigates each incident and proposes the fix; check whether it is included or metered.
- How much time do you have? Every month closer to April 2027 leaves less room to test the new tool on your real alerts.
Why teams choose Oppex over the default move
Oppex AI is built only for engineering incidents: it groups alerts before anyone is paged, escalates by phone call, SMS and WhatsApp, and its AI SRE agent, Oppex Nova, proposes the likely cause and fix in about two minutes. Root-cause follow-ups still go to Jira. Oppex Business includes AI alert grouping, AI investigation and status pages at $20 per user — about 67% less than Jira Service Management Premium for a 20-person team. On Enterprise, Oppex can run in your own cloud, so incident data stays in your environment, with self-hosted LLMs if you need them. Full comparison.
A migration checklist that beats the deadline
- Inventory teams, schedules, escalation policies, integrations, heartbeats and anything calling the Opsgenie API.
- Move the setup — the Oppex team migrates teams, services, escalations, schedules, users and incident history within about 24 hours of receiving access (migration guide).
- Run in shadow mode for a week: the new tool receives a copy of every alert and pages nobody.
- Switch paging over service by service, well before 5 April 2027.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best Opsgenie alternatives now that Atlassian is retiring Opsgenie?
Atlassian offers two paths: Jira Service Management, for end-to-end IT service and incident management, and Compass, for alerting and on-call next to a software component catalog. Outside Atlassian, the main alternatives are PagerDuty, incident.io, Rootly, Better Stack, Grafana Cloud IRM, Datadog On-Call and Oppex AI, which combines on-call, phone and SMS escalation, alert grouping and an AI SRE agent from $12 per user per month.
What should we replace Opsgenie with?
If you also want an IT service desk, Jira Service Management is the natural move. If you used Opsgenie only for engineering on-call and alerting, a dedicated incident tool usually fits better: Oppex AI, PagerDuty, incident.io or Rootly. Run the replacement behind Opsgenie on your real alerts before switching paging over.
When does Opsgenie shut down?
Opsgenie stopped being sold on 4 June 2025 and reaches end of support on 5 April 2027. Data that has not been moved by then is deleted.
Can I still buy Opsgenie seats?
Existing customers can still add seats until the end of support on 5 April 2027, but they can no longer change their Opsgenie edition, and new customers cannot buy Opsgenie.
